Researchers at UC Riverside calculated that a single email generated by ChatGPT consumes enough energy to power 14 LED bulbs for an hour. Given the reliance on fossil fuels, AI-related electricity use contributes to increased carbon dioxide emissions, with each ChatGPT query releasing roughly four grams of CO₂.
