OpenAI, a leading artificial intelligence development company, has launched a trial version of a tool named Operator, designed to autonomously perform tasks and specific actions on behalf of users.
Operator is among the so-called general-purpose AI agents and can take control of a web browser to independently book travel accommodations or restaurant reservations, as well as make online purchases. OpenAI announced this development, as reported by Tanjug.
The new tool will initially be available to clients in the United States who pay a monthly subscription of $200. The company promises to gradually introduce this feature to other subscription levels, such as Plus, Team, and Enterprise, according to TechCrunch.
When ChatGPT users activate Operator, a small window will appear displaying a dedicated web browser that the AI agent uses to perform tasks, along with explanations of the specific actions the agent is taking.
OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, stated that Operator will soon be available in other countries, while the European Union will “unfortunately” have to wait a bit longer.
The trial version of Operator is available at operator.chatgpt.com.
